PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a device and reduce its power consumption, while suppressing deterioration in image quality. SOLUTION: A data line 131 is connected commonly to all pixel cells 54 and 141 of a pixel cell group, consisting of pixel cells 54 and 141 that adjoin each other in two horizontal directions. A retention volume line 134 is disposed in parallel with the data line 131 and is connected to the pixel cells 54 and 141 of the pixel cell group 133. Gate lines 132 are electrically insulated from the data line 131 and are disposed in parallel, bisecting the data line 131 at right angles. The pixel cell group 133 is disposed in a matrix formation, and the pixel cells 54 and 141 of the pixel cell group 133 are connected to the different gate lines 132.
