<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizer which is superior in durability in a high-temperature and low-humidity environment and a high-temperature and high-humidity environment and hardly damaged due to separation of members during environmental change, and to provide a liquid crystal display device in which light leakage in a peripheral part is drastically reduced. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is the polarizer which has a polarizing element and protective films provided on both surfaces of the polarizing element, at least one of the protective films being a protective film with low moisture permeability and an adhesive layer being formed on the other protective film, where the adhesive layer has a distortion amount A of 100 to 3,000 μm obtained through a creep test in which the polarizer is fixed to a substrate via the adhesive layer and a load of 1 kg is applied at 80°C for 1 hour, and the protective film with low moisture permeability has a moisture permeability of ≤100 g/m<SP>2</SP>×day at 60°C and 40% relative humidity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
