PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrometry capable of measuring easily a planar distribution of components of a sample. SOLUTION: This mass spectrometry for ionizing the sample by a field desorption ionization method by using a plurality of emitters arranged flatly, and performing mass spectrometry of generated ions has a process for installing the sample so that a measuring surface of the sample corresponds to the plurality of emitters arranged flatly, and that each corresponding part of the sample is arranged on each emitter; a process for driving each emitter independently, generating an electric field successively, and ionizing a part corresponding to each emitter of the sample corresponding thereto; and a process for performing mass spectrometry of ions generated by ionization in correspondence with each emitter driven for generating the ions.
