<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily improve a deploying characteristic of a side airbag device deployed to the side of an occupant of a seat of an automobile. <P>SOLUTION: A guide plate part 33 of a gas guide body 18 is opposed to a lower side part of a gas supply part 22 of an inflator 12. A front of an upper side of the gas supply 22 is faced to an opening plate 33. Gas injected from the lower side of the gas supply 22 is made to abut on the guide plate 33 and is vertically distributed to generate a lower side gas flow G1 directing to a lower compartment 52 and an upper side gas flow G2 directing to an upper compartment 51. Gas injected from the upper side of the gas supply 22 is not made to abut on the guide plate 33 and becomes a center gas flow G3 directly directing to the front side along an upper side of a bulkhead 47 from the opening 34.
