<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner using a photocatalyst maintaining its performance for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: An air cleaner body 9 sucks air in through an intake port 7 and exhausts the air through a vent 8. Inside the air cleaner body 9, a photocatalyst filter 1 and a radiation lamp A2, a radiation lamp B3, and a radiation lamp C4 as a plurality of radiation lamps for radiating light to the photocatalyst filter 1 are placed. In order to adjust an amount of light to be radiated to the photocatalyst in accordance with the degree of air dirt detected by a gas sensor, the number of lamps for lighting the plurality of radiation lamps is controlled to obtain a power saving and sufficient deodorizing effect and be able to extend life expectancy of the radiation lamp for lighting the radiation lamps as long as necessary. Moreover, since a lighting time of the plurality of radiation lights can be averaged, the life expectancy of the radiation lamps can be extended. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
