摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device to be initialized in a short period of time at a low voltage and preventing a pixel aperture ratio from being reduced even when adopting a display mode requiring initialization for setting an OCB mode or the like. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with: a first electrode 106 formed on the surface of one of a pair of facing light-transmitting substrates; an insulating layer 102 superposed on the first electrodes 106; a second electrode 108 superposed on the insulating layer 102; and a liquid crystal driving means connected to the first electrodes and the second electrode to drive liquid crystal filled between the pair of substrates. The second electrode 108 includes a notch part 302 for facilitating initialization, and the first electrodes 106 have an aperture part 301 arranged so as to be superposed on the notch part 302 of the second electrode 108.
