PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a twist ball capable of switching display colors at higher speed as compared with the conventional one, a display device and a method for driving the twist ball. SOLUTION: The twist ball 4 for switching display colors in a prescribed direction by rotation is provided with a plurality of colored areas 5, 6 in which display colors are colored and charged areas 50, 60 arranged on the sides opposite to respective colored areas 5, 6 with respect to a rotational center P and having different charges in each of the corresponding color areas 5, 6. The respective colored areas 5, 6 which are adjacent to each other in a peripheral direction, are colored by mutually different display colors and a center angleθbetween both centers is less than 180°. Since the plurality of colored areas 5, 6 are formed by dividing a sphere 40 into three or more portions, display colors can be switched at higher speed as compared with the conventional two-division method.
