PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid backfire and prevent damage of an internal combustion engine by making combustion hardly occur even if ignition is executed in a suction stroke. SOLUTION: In the internal combustion engine having at least three cylinder arranged in series, employing four stroke system injecting fuel in an intake port, and provided with a signal generating means outputting signal coinciding with ignition timing at compression top dead center with equal interval time-wise by rotation of a camshaft in each cylinder, combustion strokes of predetermined cylinder are specified by change of interval time of signal output by the signal generation means by alternately executing injecting fuel each time when the signal generating means outputs signal to make total quantity of injection quantity of two times roughly same as quantity of fuel which can burn in one time, and igniting in the predetermined cylinder at timing when the signal generating means outputs signal after injecting fuel, and stroke of each cylinder is discriminated based on combustion strokes of the specified predetermined cylinder.
