PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work machine periphery monitoring device enabling the possibility of turning of a front work machine to be instantaneously determined by easily and accurately grasping the positional relation between the work machine and an obstacle. SOLUTION: This work machine periphery monitoring device comprises: a work machine attitude take-in means 300 for taking in the attitude and shape of the work machine during the working; a camera 13 for photographing the periphery of the work machine; an obstacle detection means 700 for detecting an obstacle around the work machine and measuring its position; a display image generating means 800 for synthesizing the image showing the attitude, shape, and working area of the work machine according to the information from the work machine attitude taken-in means 300, the image around the work machine photographed by the camera, and the image showing the obstacle detected by the obstacle detection means 700 and generating a display image; and a display means 900 for displaying the generated image.
