PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automotive composite member not sacrificing light weight rather than being made to light weight and capable of enhancing the maximum load and an energy absorption amount of an automotive hollow member using high-tension steel. SOLUTION: In the automotive composite member 1, an aluminum alloy reinforcement material 5 having reinforcement ribs 6, 7 is inserted into a hollow part of at least a central part 2c in a longitudinal direction of the hollow member 2 made of high-tension steel and an outer edge part 8 of the reinforcement material 5 is fitted to the hollow part so as to be abutted on an inner surface 2d of the hollow part. As the automotive composite member 1, the member in which thickness and strength of the hollow member 2 side and thickness of reinforcement material 5 side are specified is used. Thereby, the maximum load and the energy absorption characteristic of the composite member are enhanced without sacrificing light weight. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
