PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treating method by which installation of a softening apparatus and an oxidation apparatus are dispensed with or the softening apparatus can be miniaturized and production amount of sludge can be reduced in treatment of raw water containing fluorine and ammonia nitrogen. SOLUTION: The water treating method comprises a nitrification process of nitrifying at least a part of ammonia nitrogen contained in water to be treated containing fluorine and ammonia nitrogen, a denitrification process of performing denitrification reaction by autotrophic denitrification microorganisms while utilizing ammonia nitrogen as an electron donor and nitrite nitrogen produced by nitrification as an electron acceptor and a fluorine treatment process of treating fluorine after the denitrification reaction.
