PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method, with which a highly flat, fine and thick image can be efficiently formed. SOLUTION: This image forming method comprises a thin resin film forming process, in which a thin resin film 3 made of a resin composition for forming an image is formed on the release treated surface of a film base material 1, at least on one side of which is release-treated, a removing process for selectively transferring and removing a thin resin film portion in contact with a resin-philic thin resin film part from a film base material side by pressing a flat removing plate having the surface selectively patterned and processed into a resin-philic thin resin film having an affinity to a thin resin film and a resin-phobic thin resin film part to the thin resin film formed by the thin resin film forming process into a press contact state, and a transferring process for forming a desired image by transferring the thin resin film portion left on the film base material side after the removing process onto a base material, on which an image is to be formed.
