PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens whose visible cross-section shape is smoother, and the like. SOLUTION: A grayscale mask which has an emulsion layer 32 including a particulate emulsion on the main surface of a substrate 31 and a plurality of patterns corresponding to changes in light transmittance, formed on the emulsion layer 32 is prepared and the average particle size of the emulsion is≤100 nm. In each of the plurality of patterns, the light transmittance is changed from the inside to the outside step by step or continuously.
