The present invention provides a method for selecting a channel in a wireless network. A wireless terminal counts a number of transmitted frames; performs a first weighting of the frames received on each channel; performs a second weighting of the frames received from each access point and then selects the access point having the highest total weighting and with a signal to noise ratio that exceeds a predetermined threshold.
