PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a gas-barrier layer-forming coating liquid in a shorter time than ever, and if needed, capable of forming the coating liquid (an aqueous dispersion of a polycarboxylic acid partially neutralized with a polyvalent metal) in higher concentration, and thereby to provide a method for producing a gas-barrier laminated form reasonably as a whole. SOLUTION: The method for producing the gas-barrier layer-forming coating liquid comprises the following process: an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid is mixed with a polyvalent metal compound at 0.05-0.75 chemical equivalent based on the ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid in an aqueous medium followed by conducting a polymerization reaction to form (A) an aqueous dispersion of a polycarboxylic acid partially neutralized with a polyvalent metal. The method for producing the gas-barrier laminated form comprises the following process: at least one side of a substrate is coated with the aqueous dispersion A directly or, as appropriate, a coating liquid (B) formed by diluting the aqueous dispersion A, followed by evaporation to dryness to form a gas-barrier layer (a) on the substrate. Subsequently, the resulting substrate is coated with a (C) a coating liquid containing a polyvalent metal compound followed by evaporation to dryness to form a polyvalent metal compound-containing layer (c).
