PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous adhesive composition excellent in water resistance, heat resistance, and durability. SOLUTION: The aqueous adhesive composition comprises a carboxyl group-containing aqueous polymer as the main agent, a curing agent containing an isocyanate compound and a polyamidoepoxy compound, and a tetrafunctional epoxy group having a tertiary amino nitrogen atom. The aqueous polymer is at least one in the group consisting of an aqueous polymer having a carboxyl group in the molecule, an aqueous solution of the aqueous polymer, an aqueous latex containing a carboxyl group in the molecule, and an aqueous emulsion containing a carboxyl group in the molecule. The isocyanate compound is a mixture of polymethylenepolyphenyl polyisocyanate and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate. The polyamidoepoxy compound is a compound obtained by reacting an epihalohydrin with a polyamine or a polyamide.
