<p>A coin handling device (13), into which a large quantity of coins can be placed at a time, is reduced in size and can collectively return coins received in a temporary suspension section (44) and a containing/feeding section (41). The temporary suspension section (44) is adapted to stop at the following positions: a temporary suspension position (a) at which the temporary suspension section (44) receives a coin sent from a conveyance path (42), an elimination position (b) at which the temporary suspension section (44) receives a coin released and dropped from the containing/feeding section (41), a return position (c) at which a temporarily suspended coin is dropped into a return box (19), and a receiving position (d) at which a temporarily suspended coin is dropped into a coin cassette. The temporary suspension section (44) is moved to the elimination position (b) to allow a coin to be released and drop from the containing/feeding section (41), and then the temporary suspension section (44) is moved to the return position (c) and causes coins to be collectively returned to the return box (19). The coin handling device can quickly treat return of a coin in the containing/feeding section (41) when coin receiving processing is interrupted or when a failure of coin feeding from the containing/feeding section (41) caused by placement of a large quantity of coin occurs, and also can treat return of foreign matter remaining in the containing/feeding section (41).</p> |
