The invention relates to a sound dampening housing (7) for a rock drill w hich moves along a feed beam in a longitudinal direction thereof, the sound dampening housing (7) being attachable to the feed beam (6) of the rock dril l on its both sides so that together with the feed beam (6) the sound dampen ing housing constitutes a substantially closed space. The sound dampening ho using (7) is double-shelled, and an airspace is provided between its inner s hell and its outer shell.
