<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint in which play at a shaft connection portion is less likely to occur and having a spigot-socket fitting structure capable of firmly connecting an inner joint member and a shaft together. <P>SOLUTION: The constant velocity universal joint includes an outer joint member, the inner joint member inserted into the outer joint member and a torque transmitting member disposed between the outer joint member and the inner joint member so as to transmit torque. The constant velocity universal joint has the spigot-socket fitting structure M by which the inner joint member and the shaft 5 inserted and fitted in a shaft hole of the inner joint member are connected together. A hardened layer S by induction hardening is formed on the outer diameter side of the inner joint member. The inner diameter side of the inner joint member is in an unquenched state. A projection 35 arranged on the outer diameter surface of the shaft 5 and a depression 36 arranged on the inner diameter surface of the shaft hole 22 of the inner joint member and fitting on the projection 35, are in intimate contact with each other in their entire regions at a fitting and contact portion 38. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
