<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively realize a so-called stealth dot pattern whose presence on a medium surface can not be recognized only by viewing with existent printing techniques a little improved. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a dot pattern used for a dot pattern reading system wherein a dot pattern formed on a medium surface and defining prescribed information is read by an optical reading means, read image data are decoded into the prescribed information and characters, sound, images and the like corresponding to the prescribed information are output. The dot pattern is characterized in that a dot pattern used also as dots used for printing and printed on the medium surface using an optically identifiable ink is included, and is used also as dots. Each of dots of the dot pattern is characterized in that the way of deviation from an ordinary dot print original position is first determined by a prescribed logic and the dots are then formed on the basis of the way of deviation.
