<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent expansion of a battery caused by battery internal pressure rise. <P>SOLUTION: This battery is composed by housing an electrode body having a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and an electrolyte in a rectangular armoring can. The battery is characterized in that a recessed part projecting toward the inside of the armoring can is formed in a central region of a side surface having the largest area within four side surfaces of the armoring can, and one or more expansion prevention grooves are formed in the recessed part.
