<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode capable of improving safety of an electrochemical device in the case it is exposed to high temperature environment, and an electrochemical device using it. <P>SOLUTION: This is equipped with a current collector 16, a heat absorbing material layer 18 installed on the current collector 16, and an active material containing layer 20 installed on the heat absorbing material layer 18.
