<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device wherein a cooling system for a motor, a driver, or the like, can be configured in a compact manner. <P>SOLUTION: The motor drive device is mounted on an engine, or the like, and operates a motor by a driver unit to generate driving force. Specifically, the driver unit is installed in the head cover of the engine and functions as an inverter that generates a current supplied to at least the motor. A cooling water circulating structure uses cooling water both for the motor and for the driver unit. More specifically, the cooling water circulating structure circulates cooling water let in through the cylinder head of the engine so that a power module comprising the driver unit is cooled, before the motor is cooled. As a result, the cooling system for the motor and the driver unit can be constituted in a compact manner and efficiently cool the power module of the driver unit, to effectively suppress overheating of the power module. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
