PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the situation where an incomings and outgoings of a vehicle becomes impossible when the movement of a pallet stagnates, when the vehicle is erroneously parked on a carriageway surface. SOLUTION: This mechanical parking device is provided in the form of arranging units in front and in rear in double rows by arranging divisions equivalent to one vehicle in a plurality of stages in the vertical direction and in a plurality of rows in the horizontal direction. In a state of forming the vehicle road surface in a getting-in stage of the vehicle of a front row unit, traverse operation of a traverse pallet is performed independently of operation control of the pallet related to the incomings and outgoings of the vehicle (S101-S102, and S201-S202). When detecting an obstacle on the vehicle road surface by an obstacle sensor of the traverse pallet (S103, and S203), the respective pallets are stopped and a warning is given to an operator (S104, and S204).
