PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoothing press apparatus smoothing wet paper surface, enabling a high speed paper making suitable for applying to a closed draw type paper machine. SOLUTION: The smoothing press apparatus 100 is arranged at the final stage of a press part 11 of the closed draw type paper machine, and includes a smoothing press 17 consisting of a pair of press rolls 23, 25, a smoothing belt 27 for smoothing the wet paper surface, as nipped by the smoothing press 17 together with the wet paper W, and a papermaking-conveying felt 21 for conveying the wet paper W and delivering it to the smoothing belt 27.
