PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for quenching a forged material of an aluminum alloy, which can prevent or inhibit a soft spot and quenching distortion from being formed in a highly-efficient quenching treatment operation, without decreasing the production efficiency. SOLUTION: When quenching many comparatively small forged materials 1 of the aluminum alloy at the same time by settling the forged material 1 into a water tank 12 from above the water tank, in a state of arraying many forged materials 1 of the aluminum alloy and stacking them in a vertical direction in a case 10, this quenching method includes: keeping a temperature of water by using circulation systems 17 and 18 which forcibly supply and drain cooling water in the water tank 12, and in addition, blowing air 15 and 16 from the lower part of the water tank 12 to send bubbles 14 toward the forged materials 1 in the water tank 12, and to make the bubbles rise toward the upper part of the water tank 12 and contact each of the many forged materials 1. The quenching method thus quenches the forged materials 1 efficiently, while inhibiting the soft spot and the distortion from forming therein. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
