PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems the conventional blue fluorophor has, that it is difficult to use it for light source applications and display applications because the energy efficiency and the color purity are low, that it is economically unsuitable because an expensive rare earth salt is needed by a large quantity and so forth. SOLUTION: The blue fluorophor is obtained by doping a group II-VI compound semiconductor with praseodymium and an alkaline earth metal. The manufacturing method of the blue fluorophor comprises simultaneously doping a group II-VI compound semiconductor with praseodymium and an alkaline earth metal by baking.
