PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily producible composite material having light weight and improved strength, elastic modulus, heat resistance, gas barrier property, etc., of a resin. SOLUTION: The composite material 4 is produced by kneading a porous structure 2 and a resin 3 to crush the porous structure 2 and disperse the crushed material in the resin 3 to obtain a composite material 1 and mixing and dispersing hollow particles 5 in the composite material 1 to decrease the specific gravity of the product below the specific gravity of the resin. The porous structure 2 is crushed during the kneading of the porous structure 2 and the resin 3 by the kneading force to homogeneously disperse the crushed material in nanometer-order and improve the strength, elastic modulus, etc. An easily producible composite material having light weight and improved strength, elastic modulus, heat resistance, gas barrier property, etc., can be produced without increasing the specific gravity by dispersing the hollow particles 5 in the composite material.
