PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevating/lowering body fall preventive device for a stacker crane capable of easily performing the adjusting work of the elevating/lowering body fall preventive device and the adjusting work for horizontally maintaining the elevating/lowering body which are performed after wrapping wire ropes around a pulley-block, and reliably preventing the fall of the elevating/lowering body when the wire ropes are broken, and the stacker crane using the same. SOLUTION: The elevating/lowering body fall preventive device of the stacker crane comprises fixed pulley-blocks 15a, 15b with wire ropes 10a, 10b for elevating/lowering an elevating/lowering body 1 of the stacker crane being looped thereon, a pair of wire rope stopper members 17a, 17b and a pair of wire rope stopper members 18a, 18b fixed to both sides of the wire ropes 10a, 10b in a vicinity of the fixed pulley-blocks 15a, 15b, limit switches S1-S8 which are operated by the movement of any of the wire rope stopper members to detect any breakage of the wire ropes 10a, 10b, and receiving members 19a, 19b which receive the descending wire rope stopper members to stop the elevating/lowering body 1.
