PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a following travel control device for a vehicle capable of improving operability of an automatic following travel mode in the vehicle with an automatic transmission. SOLUTION: The vehicle following travel control device used for the vehicle with the automatic transmission having an automatic cruise device for automatic following travel with respect to a preceding vehicle has an N position for a neutral and a D position for forward traveling. The N position and D position are linearly arranged in the vehicle body longitudinal direction and a shift lever can be linearly moved between the respective positions. The vehicle following travel control device is further provided with a C position which is a position to turn on an automatic cruise mode, and the C position is arranged in the vehicle body longitudinal direction on the extension of the linear arrangement of the N position and D position so as to be adjacent to the D position.
