A nano wire grid polarizer and a liquid crystal display device having the same are provided to improve light efficiency and a contrast ratio by stacking a plurality of nano wire array layers having periodically arranged nano wires. A nano wire grid polarizer(100) includes a dielectric layer(105) and a plurality of nano wire array layers(121-124). The nano wire array layers are formed by periodically arranging nano wires(110) in parallel with each other inside the dielectric layer. The nano wire array layers are stacked to be spaced apart from each other. The nano wire is made of aluminum, sliver, gold, copper, or nickel and has a circular, oval, or square cross section. The nano wires are periodically arranged in a triangular or square grid shape as seen from a cross section of the nano wire grid polarizer, which is cut vertical to a longitudinal direction of the nano wire.
