<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of recording/reproducing a signal by eliminating aberrations generated by a difference in disk substrate thickness with a simple structure having no mechanical switching mechanism for two or more types of optical disks different in substrate thickness, and to provide an optical pickup used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: Laser luminous fluxes emitted from a first light emission element become parallel luminous fluxes through a collimator lens, and converged through a luminous flux synthesis and separation element on the high-density disk of a thin disk substrate by an objective lens. Laser luminous fluxes emitted from a second light emission element are made incident as dispersed luminous fluxes on the objective lens through the luminous flux synthesis and separation element to be converged on the conventional disk of a thick disk substrate. Thus, spherical aberrations caused by a difference in disk thickness are corrected.
