CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE CARBON FIBER COMPOSITE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three-dimensional network-like carbon fiber composite having a graphene layer forming a protrusions on the surface and suitable for composite materials.

SOLUTION: The carbon fiber composite has a three-dimensional network-like carbon fiber structure composed of carbon fibers having an outside diameter 15-100 nm. The carbon fiber structure has granular parts having a larger particle size than the outside diameter of the carbon fiber, mutually binding the carbon fibers and formed in a growing process of the carbon fiber. The surface of the carbon fiber structure is covered with one layer or multilayers of graphene layers forming protruded portions protruding almost in radial directions of the carbon fiber constituting the carbon fiber structure. In the protruded portions, portions locating between the graphene layers and the surface of the carbon fiber have a structure in which fine metal particles or fine metal carbide particles are enclosed, or a hollow structure.
