<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately provide detail information relating to a facility or place within a photographic range to a user based on an image photographed by a camera. <P>SOLUTION: When retrieval is instructed by portable information equipment 1, a camera image A by a camera (not shown by a figure) and such pieces of additional information B as location information by a GPS device 12, the direction information of the camera by an earth magnetism sensor 13 and the lens focal distance information or photographic magnification information of the camera are transmitted to a retrieval service server 200. In the retrieval service server 200, targets in a photographic range are retrieved from the current location of the camera based on the additional information B, and the targets are recognized by image recognition and character recognition from the camera image A, and information relating to the targets is returned to portable information equipment 1 as a retrieval result 201.
