<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems with conventional keyless entry systems wherein, since these systems use radio waves for unlocking or unlocking signals, they are generally omnidirectional, and if an unlocking operation is performed, for example, the keys of all doors are unlocked and, for example, failure to close the door occurs in a part of the vehicles having a slide door or a flip-up door. <P>SOLUTION: This keyless entry system uses a light emitting device for emitting infrared with narrow radiation angle and locks and unlocks the key of a vehicle. The keyless entry system comprises a light receiving/emitting unit adaptable to the operating conditions of the key. The light receiving/emitting unit comprises the combination of a light receiving element for receiving infrared and a light emitting element for displaying the positions of the key operated according to the infrared received by the light receiving element.
