<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element capable of preventing occurrence of a short circuit by executing self-repair, and of preventing voltage drop by reducing wiring resistance. <P>SOLUTION: This organic EL element 3 is provided with a translucent electrode 4, an organic layer 7 formed on the translucent electrode 4 and including at least a luminescent layer, and a back electrode 8 formed on the organic layer 7. The back electrode 8 is provided with: a first electrode layer 8a formed on the organic layer 7, and formed of a metal material; and a second electrode layer 8b formed on the first electrode layer 8a, and formed by mixing a metal material 8b1 with an insulation material 8b2.
