<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to start an internal combustion engine into operation, even if it is attempted to start the internal combustion engine, by cranking within the range of output restriction of a secondary battery in cold and failed to start. <P>SOLUTION: If it is attempted to start the engine into operation in colds but cannot start, the engine is started by clanking by outputting from the motor MG1, the torque restricted by the torque restriction Tm1max set as the torque larger than the torque required to rotate the engine at least starting minimum rotation speed Nref in the colds based on output limitation Wout of a battery at that time, irrespective of the battery voltage Vb turning into under the lower limit voltage Vmin (S240-S320).
