<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully secure the security of image data even if the image data is written in a single portable storage medium, in an image forming system having a data processing apparatus for writing image data in a portable storage medium and an image forming apparatus for forming images on a recording medium by reading the image data from the portable storage medium, and in a data processing apparatus and an image forming apparatus that can make up the image forming system. <P>SOLUTION: When image data is written from a personal computer to a USB memory, the image data is divided into separate files as shown in Fig.5, and is written into dummy files as well. Orders are specified to the separate files. On the printer side, the original image data cannot be restored or printed unless all the separate files are selected in the correct order.
