PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information terminal capable of achieving a high security level without placing a burden on the user about the management of a start key, a password, etc., or impairing serviceability, and its starting method. SOLUTION: When a user uses the information terminal 101, an OS inoperable by the user is started on the information terminal 101, after which a start request signal for the information terminal 101 is sent from a mobile communication terminal 102 to a management server 103. In response to the start request signal sent from the mobile communication terminal 102, the management server 103 determines whether or not the start of the information terminal is permitted; if it is permitted, the server returns a start signal or start key for the information terminal 101. When the OS inoperable by the user receives the start signal, the information terminal 101 starts a virtual machine and an OS operable by the user on the virtual machine.
