PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method and an apparatus for sure decision on the existence of a wiretap, even under an environment where there is no noise. SOLUTION: The wiretap detection method generates exploration electrical signals of a constant pattern and records the wave characteristics of these exploration electrical signals. These exploration electrical signals are converted into air vibrations by a sound wave generator and radiated as sound waves into the atmosphere. General electric waves propagating through open space are received by an antenna, and by detecting high frequency electric signals, significant electric signals of low frequencies which are contained are detected. When significant signals and the wave characteristics are compared and they are found to be similar, an alarm signal is generated indicating that is a possibility of wiretapping in the vicinity of the sound wave generator.
