PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability of a storage device by efficiently using the characteristics of a nonvolatile cache memory and a hard disk and compensating for disadvantages of the hard disk drive. SOLUTION: The storage device using a nonvolatile cache memory comprises: a host interface; a command analyzing part for analyzing contents of a command; a request and determination result memory for storing request information for permitting or forcedly inhibiting access to the hard disk; a device state determination part for determining the request information of the request and determination result memory prior to response to the command analyzed by the command analyzing part; and a media access determination part for inhibiting access to the hard disk when a determination result of the device state determination part indicates "inhibited", and permitting the access on the basis of an analysis result of the command analyzing part and an independent determination result when the a determination result of a switching information determination part indicates "permitted".
