摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of difficulty of detection of an ion current caused by difference between air-fuel ratios of spark ignition operation and premixed compression ignition operation, if the same voltage is applied to an ignition plug, for example, regardless of in the spark ignition operation and premixed compression ignition operation, in a gasoline engine in which spark ignition or the premixed compression ignition is selectively performed according to an operational area. SOLUTION: In the gasoline engine, the ignition plug is provided, and one of the spark ignition and the premixed compression ignition is performed according to the operational area. In the ion current detection method for the gasoline engine for detecting the ion current generated by combustion to detect a combustion state, first detection voltage is applied to the ignition plug in the combustion by the spark ignition, second detection voltage higher than the first detection voltage is applied to the ignition plug in the combustion by the premixed compression ignition, and the ion current in the combustion by the spark ignition and the ion current in the combustion by the premixed compression ignition are respectively detected by the first detection voltage or the second detection voltage which is selectively applied.
