This invention relates to a propulsion device (12) comprising a flexible fluke (18) that is pivotable about a horizontal axis, for propelling a floating watercraft, said propulsion device (12) being adapted for connection to an output drive shaft (20) that is adapted for transmitting a rotary motion, said propulsion device (12) comprising a fluke oscillation drive (16) having means for gear reduction of the rotary motion transmitted by the shaft (20) and means for converting the rotary motion transmitted by the shaft (20) to oscillatory motion of the fluke (18).
