The present invention provides assay for detecting the presence of at least one anticholinesterase agent in a sample using a fish comprising of a plurality of cholinesterase enzymes characterised in that the cholinesterase enzymes is extracted from the fish; contacting the cholinesterase enzymes with the sample containing a plurality of substrates;measuring the reaction rates between cholinesterase enzymes and a plurality of substrates and calculating the activity or the concentration of a plurality of cholinesterase with sensitivity coefficient of each substrate for a plurality of cholinesterase.
