A portable terminal and a method for executing partial light emitting are provided to improve visual cognitivity by enabling only an inputted key in a keypad to emit light. A portable terminal comprises an input part(103) and a control part. The input part consists of a keypad, waveguide sheets, and a plurality of light-emitting elements. The keypad has keys which are arrayed in a 4-by-3 matrix. The waveguide sheets, located at the bottom of the keypad, are divided into the first waveguide sheets(R1-R4) and the second waveguide sheets(C1-C3). The light-emitting elements, arranged at the outer side of the waveguide sheets along the row and column directions of the key matrix, apply light to the waveguide sheets. The first light-emitting elements(D-G) respectively are arranged at one side of the first waveguide sheets. The second light-emitting elements(A-C) respectively are arranged at one side of the second waveguide sheets. If a specific key is selected in the keypad, the control part controls the input part so that only light-emitting elements corresponding to the row and column of the selected key can emit light. |
