The invention relates to a method for obtaining a cross-linked fibrous material/silicone elastomer composite and to said composite that can be used particularly in the field of textile architecture. The method can solve the problems of capillary ascension, and can be used for preserving the cohesion of the coated textile and limiting the risks of delamination between the different silicone layers. The method is characterised in that it comprises the following main steps in the order mentioned: 1) coating one of the faces of the textile substrate with a first liquid, silicone composition cross-linkable into an elastomer and having a dynamic viscosity before cross-linking of between 5000 and 200000 mPa.s at 25°C; 2) cross-linking the first liquid silicone composition applied on the textile substrate; 3) coating the other face of the textile substrate with a second liquid, silicone composition cross-linkable into an elastomer, said second silicone composition having a dynamic viscosity before cross-linking lower than or equal to 2000 mPa.s at 25°C for the core impregnation of the textile substrate, and having after cross-linking a number of reactive groups sufficient for the adhesion of an optional composition subsequently applied onto the second silicone composition; 4) cross-linking the second silicone composition impregnating the textile substrate.
