PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve the productivity while restraining a heating unstability, in a heat-treatment method for steel material with a reverse-heating by using an induction-heating apparatus. SOLUTION: The steel material 10 is heated while being conveyed from the upstream side to the downstream side in the ordinary direction, and after completing this heating, at the time when the heating is again performed while being conveyed in the reverse direction, the separating distance between the induction-heating apparatus and the steel material, at the time when the conveying direction of the steel material is changed, is made to be a prescribed positive lower limit value (e.g.1m) or more.
