The vehicle (10) has a controller configured with stored threshold braking torque and braking system control algorithm, where the algorithm determines a braking torque request corresponding to apply force and another braking torque request corresponding to travel position. An electronic braking system component is applied using the former braking torque request when the apply force is greater than the stored threshold braking torque, and utilizing the latter braking torque request when the apply force is less than the stored threshold braking torque. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a brake pedal transition method for measuring and recording an apply force in a vehicle (2) a method for interpolating a driver-requested braking torque request in vehicle.
