PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the use value of a map printed out by a printer 1000. SOLUTION: A map information storage section 101 stores map information including the circumference of a destination to be retrieved, and specification information for specifying the destination. When a control section 104 receives request for retrieval of the destination, the control section 104 reads, out of the map information storage section 101, the map information and the specification information of the destination, encodes the specification information, combines the encoded specification information with the map information and outputs it. A two-dimensional bar code reading section 201 reads and decodes the coded specification information of the destination. A terminal position information acquisition section 203 acquires the present position of a portable terminal device. A control section 205 calculates and outputs, on the basis of the decoded specification information of the destination and the present position of the portable terminal device, the distance and direction to the destination.
