PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous membrane which has elasticity, flexibility and high mechanical strength and can be used in various fields, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The porous membrane 10 comprises a thermoplastic elastomer, wherein at least part of the thermoplastic elastomer is crosslinked or polymerized. The porous membrane in which pores are formed in a honeycomb form can be produced by a method comprising the steps of: applying an organic solvent solution containing a thermoplastic elastomer on a base material, forming droplets in the membrane of the organic solvent solution applied on the base material followed by evaporating the organic solvent and the droplets to obtain a porous membrane in which pores are formed in the portions where the droplets are evaporated, and crosslinking or polymerizing the thermoplastic elastomer contained in the porous membrane.
